Your clients are entitled to low-cost or no-cost medical records under the HIPAA regulations or the CURES Act respectively.  Both regulatory schemes extend those rights to all of the patient’s medical records called the “Designated Record Sets” in the possession of a healthcare provider with very few exceptions.  Some healthcare providers have been limiting the patient’s access to the records they will provide in violation of both regulatory schemes.

In this webinar, Roger Leslie covers the steps needed to obtain copies of electronic records under the HIPAA regulations and the CURES Act regulations.  The HIPAA regulations are currently enforced against healthcare providers and the CURES Act regulations will be enforced against healthcare providers possibly later this year by DHHS, ONC following publication of a final ruling.
